FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CAVOODLE TEMPERAMENT?

I will leave you to do some research about a Cavoodle's general temperament, but since you are here...... Cavoodles are renown for their intelligence, loving and gentle nature. They are wonderful with children, the elderly and when appropriately trained are suitable as therapy and support dogs. They also rarely shed so can be suitable for those suffering with allergies.

WHAT GENERATION AND SIZE CAVOODLE PUPPIES DO YOU BREED?

We aim to breed predominantly fleece coat, hypoallergenic, minimal shedding Cavoodles.

Puppies may be second generation (F2) or third generation (F3) as we work our way towards Multi-Gen. We also breed Ultra's which is a Cavoodle crossed back to Cavalier.

Our Cavoodle puppies can be Toy or Mini or Large Mini.

Sizes and weights of puppies can vary however our full sized Toy Cavoodles are usually around 4-7kg and are approx 30cm at shoulder - think a Jack Russell height with slightly longer legs!

A Mini Cavoodle is approx 7-10kg and is a more robust version of the typical Toy.  Large Minis will be larger than this and will likely be taller. Saffron is 38cm at Withers (front shoulders)

Though we have bred different colours in the past (using a different sire), We pride ourselves on our Dark Red/Mahogany Puppies. We also have apricot/red or dark red in colour. When we cross with Bowie the chocolate Merle Cavoodle,  we get Chocolate Merle, Chocolate, Caramel and light Caramel Pups.

Our puppy parents have been carefully selected for their coats and their DNA genetic traits to get the colours and coats we prefer.

DO YOU FOLLOW A PUPPY CURRICULUM?
Heck yeah! I am a teacher and more importantly a learner! I am deeply interested in the growing brains of both people and animals. We follow the Bad Ass Breeder Program from day 3 where we start Early Neurological Stimulation. The program guides us through the weeks of development and encourages the exposure to mild stressors to support the puppies brain development, teaching them to cope with stress and change. But we dont stop there - as a part of our agreement with you we fund access to training modules for you. We want you to be well prepared and to feel confident that you know what to expect when you bring puppy home. Puppies are crate trained to support the first nights when they are home with you.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located on a farm at Warramboo on the Eyre Peninsula. Though this can make visits tricky, I am more than happy for you to come for a visit on weekends once puppies are old enough to respond to you. Alternatively if you are in Port Lincoln I bring puppies to the vet for vaccinations so can arrange visits then. I am very open to facetime sessions and offer one after the vet check – anything to give you piece of mind, I am very aware this is a big commitment. I will support you with problem solving any transport requirements.

WHAT ENVIRONMENT ARE THE PUPPIES IN?

Our puppies grow up in a predominantly indoor family environment. Puppies are learning to toilet on both the lawn and on puppy pads.

AT WHAT AGE DO PUPPIES LEAVE FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES?

Puppies leave for their forever homes any time after 8 weeks of age. At this stage they have only had one of their first 3 vaccinations, so it is recommended that they do not attend dog parks and remain at home as much as possible until they have had their second vaccination at 12 weeks. Also worming is recommended fortnightly until 12 weeks. We use Drontal Suspension All-Wormer/Milpro. Puppies are not treated for fleas and ticks (unless fleas are present). There aren't ticks in our environment.

CAN I BREED MY GLENROY PUPPY?

Short answer - no. We expect that our puppies are going to be desexed and will be pets only. When purchasing you will sign a declaration stating this. Desexing is encouraged after 6 months or as advised by your vet.

WHAT DO GLENROY PUPPIES EAT?

Cavoodles require premium food. Failing to do this or spoiling with too much human food can lead to stomach issues or problems with anal glands. Our dogs eat Prime 100 roll, premium Pro Plan dry food with the occasional Meaty dog bone and Jalna Yoghurt.

HAVE GLENROY DOGS BEEN DNA TESTED?

Yes - we test every one of our dogs including the guardian pets.

Our puppies will not have the following diseases:

  • Congenital Macrothrombocytopenia

  •  Curly Coat Dry Eye Syndrome (Cavalier Type)

  •  Degenerative Myelopathy

  • Elliptocytosis B-spectrin (Labrador Retriever/Poodle Type)

  • Episodic Falling Syndrome (Cavalier Type)

  • Mucopolysaccharidosis VI (Poodle Type)

  • Neonatal Encephalopathy (Poodle Type)

  •  Progressive Rod Cone Degeneration (prcd) - PRA

  •  Von Willebrand's Disease Type I

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE ON SETTLING THE PUPPY INTO ITS NEW HOME?

I am readily available via messenger/phone to support your questions and first days with your puppy. I also create a group chat so that you can share information and connect with fellow litter families. Crate training is available upon request.
